Midnight Eyes (Makeup Tutorial)

Hello, sweeties!
I haven't posted in absolutely forever and I'm super bored so I'm going to do one of those picture step by step makeup tutorials for you!
I finish school in a couple of weeks so I'll have time to do the video version for it, but until then please look at this blog post to see how you can get sparkly midnight eyes and flawless skin!

First step: Moisturising, applying base makeup, covering imperfections and setting the base makeup!

So, here's my blotchy, pimply face for toady's tutorial, don't I look great? xD
Oh, right... the makeup. Ahem. Let's go!

I'm using coconut oil to moisturise my skin instead of a conventional moisturiser as I have recently found it leaves my skin incredibly soft and smooth!
I suggest, if you have oily skin, to only use a very small amount if you're going to use coconut oil. Also it's probably a good idea to blot with a bit of tissue or a cotton pad just to make sure there isn't a lot of excess oil.

It's the return of Shu Uemura base makeup!
I love this product so much, I can't even express how much I love it. The translucent coverage is perfect for every day use.
I recently ran out! I had to buy another one. It was so difficult to do my makeup normally without it. ;-;

Apply the base evenly on your skin, not forgetting to blend the product on your neck and close to your hair line and near to your ears! You don't want it to look like a mask!

Oh no! There's still blemishes and redness that can still be seen!
Not to worry, we'll use concealer to help hide these imperfections on our skin!

This time I'm using a creamy Bobbi Brown concealer!

Conceal under your eyes, sides of your nose, around your mouth and any spots or blemishes you'd like to cover to achieve a clear and even skin tone!
Make sure you blend the concealer very well!

For setting our base makeup we're going to use a mix of our normal powder foundation and a little baby powder!
The reason we're doing this is it lightens the skin tone but still looks natural. The naturally lightened skin tone contrasts with the eye makeup we're going to get to later and makes your eyes POP!

Only a little bit of the baby powder is needed to create a lightening effect. Just tap the powders together with your powder brush to mix them.

Apply the powder evenly to your face, focusing on the tea zone areas, especially if you want to avoid shiny skin and keep a light and matte finish!

TADA! Base makeup finished!

Second step: Making our eyes POP!

You knew it was coming, ladies and gents! The famous white base!
Apply the white eyeshadow from brow-bone to eyelid.

Choose a midnight blue eyeshadow colour! (Mine is broken because I accidentally dropped the palette... oops...)
It's important to use a dark blue colour if you want to get the sparkly midnight effect!

Apply all over your eyelid! You want this colour to be seen so apply a few layers if you need to.

>>>>> Surprised face. xD

Over our midnight sky we need a mysterious darkness!
Using a small eyeshadow brush draw a thick and slightly messy line along your crease, with this is doesn't have to be perfectly perfect. Make it thicker so that it can be distinctly seen over the blue eyeshadow.

Continue with the deep black eyeshadow and switch to a bigger eyeshadow brush to help blending the colour. Extend the black shadow to just past the corner of your eye, framing the blue shadow.

The end result should look something like this!
As I said, it doesn't need to be perfectly neat, it's a rogue dark look after all ;)

Boost the blue colour by dabbing on an extra few layers on to your eyelid.

Use an angled brush and black eyeshadow to further frame your eyes.
Line only a third of your eyes to keep them open and huge!

Yay eyeshadow finished!

We're going to be using two types of lashes for this midnight eyes look!
A thick black lash and a thin, spiky bottom lash!

The thick black lashes create such a dramatic effect for our eyes, making them perfect for stage performances and photo shoots to really make your eyes stand out!

Apply the spiky bottom lashes too! There you have it! The perfect frame for your eyes!

White eyeliner is going to be key to helping make our eyes look the biggest and most sparkly they can be!

Apply the eyeliner on your waterline all the way across. Make the line a little thicker than usual for a better and brighter effect!

TADA! Eye makeup finished!

Step 3: Contouring our face!

Take your contouring powder, or face powder a couple of shades darker than your skin, do your best fish impression and apply a small amount to your cheek bone. You can also apply some on the sides of your nose to create a narrow looking nose if you're going for a "doll" look.

Tada! Now it's time for lips, woohoo!

Step 4: Creating lovely, lush lips!

First we're going to apply either a base or a moisturising lip balm on our lips. This will keep our lips moisturised and stop them from cracking, and also keep the makeup looking great!

We're going to use a Tony Moly lip tint for this makeup. It is a little more drying than other lip tints I've used, but with the base it shouldn't be a problem!

Dab on the lip tint lightly. You don't need to use too much!

Blend the colour in using your finger and don't forget to fill in any gaps if there are some! ;]

Finish with your favourite lip gloss so your lips are shiny and glossy!
There! The makeup is finished. But... something is missing...
