30 Day Lolita challenge: (Day 3)
30 Day Lolita challenge: (Day 3)
Day 3 of the Lolita challenge is:
10 things you love about Lolita! Let's do it!
10 things you love about Lolita! Let's do it!
1. I absolutely love Lolita bags! They're just so cute and huge and bright. If I could buy every Lolita bag in the world I definitely would! These are some of my favourite bags that I am too poor to buy at the moment, but are so adorable I will have them one day!
The reason I love Lolita bags so so so much is that they're so quirky. You never know what you're going to find if you're on the hunt for Lolita bags and it's just such great fun! Finding an outfit that will match your bag and other accessories that will go with it too!
I actually do not own one Lolita bag. Not one! I really should get one soon...
Might have to ask for one for my birthday! Something black or white so it's easy to match with all different coords! C: <3
2. Wearing Lolita makes me happy. I feel like a little princess! Now, don't get me wrong, Lolitas are by no means a useless, entitled, little rich people who walk around like they shouldn't lift a finger and have money thrown at them (as much as Kamikaze girls might imply :P) but the fashion itself being inspired by the Rococo and Victorian era's gives it that air of elegance and mystique. That in itself makes me super happy. Wearing Lolita is something that takes a lot of effort, and gives me a reason to bother dolling myself up just to feel good and look in the mirror and think "hey, I actually look pretty good today!" That's what it makes me feel!
As I've grown older I have become a little bit of a prude. I dislike the idea of seeing people walking around hardly wearing anything for someone else's sexual gratification. Like me when I was younger I didn't even realise it. I'd wear short skirts and low tops and believe it was because I wanted to, not because it was deemed normal in society for girls to do that. I came across Lolita and sort of realised my mistake. I like how it turns heads without having a lot of flesh on show. Now I'm not into "slut shaming" or whatever, by all means wear short skirts and low cut tops but just don't be surprised if people are staring just for that reason! Also, don't feel obliged to show flesh. The modesty of Lolita is something that is increasingly attractive to people who want to be Lolita and that just makes me super super happy. It's cute, sweet and innocent, a fun fashion that doesn't objectify anyone! There are issues with gender, but that's for another post...
3. Meets. I've been to one meet and it was one of the best things I have ever done! I'm so glad I went even though I was super scared and didn't really know what I was doing! All the ladies that were there with me just made me feel so welcome and were all very nice! We went to a little tea shop and had tea and nibbles! Conversation was a little nervous at first but everything relaxed soon enough and the room was buzzing! I hope that I can go to a lot more Lolita meets now that I've been to one!
Here are a couple of pictures from the meet! I didn't get a group one unfortunately because I had to leave early! ): Booo
But when I go to another one I will definitely get a group picture!!! :D <3
4. The feel of a petticoat! They are just so super soft and fluffy...
5. Doing cool stuff while being "overdressed." In a Lolitas eyes there is no such thing as overdressed! To do the simplest things, like going shopping or even just taking a trip to a friends house, doing it in Lolita makes it seem like its such a big deal and like a big adventure! I love that feeling! :D
6. Wigs, wigs, wigs, wigs and more wigs.
If you didn't already know I have been fascinated with wigs since I can remember and have gotten myself a tidy collection now! I love how in Lolita wigs can be easily incorporated to match a certain look or just to complete a whole outfit if your real hair doesn't quite match! As a lover of wigs this couldn't be more perfect for me and I just take advantage and buy as many wigs as I possibly can! ;)
Here are my two favourite wigs!
7. To be honest, when I was writing this out I completely missed out 7 and skipped to 8, 9 and 10. I didn't write anything so I'm just going to totally ad-lib my way through number 7! So off the top of my head another thing I love about Lolita is socks. In general I love socks but Lolita socks are just the best thing to ever grace my presence. They're bright and colourful with cute patterns on! You can't get any socks better than that! Plus they tend to be super soft... I'm always adamant about showing them off if I'm wearing them. ;D
8. I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Lolita shoes. To be precise I love Bodyline shoes as they're the only Lolita shoe brand that I own. They're cute, mostly comfortable and just amazing. With their more often than not doll-like design they add a little bit of cuteness to any dull outfit! With that, you can never go wrong with Lolita shoes! <3
9. Something very dear to me is catching the eye of a passer-by when in Lolita and realising they're looking because either 1. They think I look strange, 2. They like my outfit, 3.They're a little girl or boy wondering why I'm dressed like a princess! It soothes me to know that people look not because I'm showing ten tons of skin, but because of my outfit itself. Sure not all of the attention is wanted and rude comments are inevitably made, but that is expected no matter what style you choose, so hey ho, why not have some OTT fun with it? :D
10. I can not stress my tenth point enough.
Lolita is........

FUN
That's right ladies and gents, the main reason I love Lolita is because it is just such a fun fashion. It's expressive and bright and never ever dull no matter which style you choose! Sure it's a chore but it's fun in every aspect from choosing your shoes and dress to picking matching accessories! All the good points definitely outweigh the bad and make pursuing a Lolita life worth while! (Even if it does break the bank in the process, tehe!)Sorry it's so long everyone! I hope you'll enjoy reading my reasons for loving Lolita!
I shall post again tomorrow! <3
